Educational Philosophy '' Idealism ''

 Idealism is one of the oldest philosophies in the western culture. Ideas are the only truth according to idealists. Which makes reality unseparated from the human’s perception and thinking.

1. Self Realization:

In education, idealism has shown a great concern on the teaching- learning process. To me as a teacher, idealism sheds light on a really important point, which is self realization. Self realization provides a huge role in facilitating the process of learning, because the aim of education is to provide a development in the mind and character of the learner, which actually must begin from the learner himself. In other words, the growth and development of the learner starts from within him. When a learner seeks thinking and reasoning by himself, he will achieve knowledge easier and faster. This implies that by realizing himself, a student will be able to recognize his needs and acquire self knowledge. 

2. Searching For Truth:

Moreover, searching for truth is a priority in idealism. Where the mind is more important than the matter. Because using our minds as humans is what makes us special from the other creatures that only breathe and eat. As educators we must encourage thinking, the student must have a motive to search for truths and answers. And when reaching this stage of the classroom that seeks to gain knowledge and achieve goals themselves, grades are no longer important anymore because this is the real purpose behind education which is approaching truth. 

3. Character Development:

Furthermore, education is always concerned with the character development of the learner. So to contribute to the self and mind of the learner is really important. As educators, we must discover the abilities and full morals of the student and work on developing them, to lead him to be an individual that better serves the society. The student should grow up to have a good will,  which he will contribute to society. Educators must aim to raise a loyal student with full mind and moral values, which solves human problems and leads him to live a good life.
